Invitation
The Institute of Book Science and Documentation of the Faculty of Communication at Vilnius University kindly invites you to participate in the 20th International Book Science Conference, which will take place at Lithuanian Academy of science on 27–28 of September 2012. The Conference “Creators of Scholarly Disciplines: Book Science, Codicology, Documentation and Media Science” will explore the main modern and historical issues of the disciplines investigating documentary communication. Professor Leslie Howsam from University of Windsor (Canada) and professor Krzysztof Migoń from Wroclaw University (Poland) will take part at the conference as keynote speakers. The organizers believe that the problems raised in the papers will stimulate interdisciplinary research in Communication and Information Sciences, will make the history of these scholarly disciplines more relevant to the modernity and acknowledge the input of their creators.
We call for papers under the following topics:
- Creators of the schools of thought in Lithuania and the Baltic region.
- Significant scholars and scholarly works of the 19th and 20th centuries in Lithuania and the Baltic region.
- Research centres, their creators and works in Lithuania during the first Independence period
- Polish scholars in Vilnius in between two World Wars.
- Schools of though in modern Europe: paradigm changes
- Research groups and institutionalization of research in Lithuania and the Baltic region: from authorities to institutions.
- The role of serial and periodical scholarly journals and events in modern scholarly communication.
- The activity of professional and educational book culture organisations and individuals stimulating the development of the disciplines in Lithuania and the Baltic region.
- Modern research field: the changes in fundamental and applied research directions
